Family roots run deep. Allan Scott planted some of the Marlborough’s most famous vineyards, including the very first, and has worked here every vintage since. Great wine is made in the vineyards by ensuring top quality fruit is delivered at harvest at peak ripeness and with great flavour. Within Marlborough, the Rapaura area along the northern edge of the Wairau Valley has become particularly prized. This is where the family established their vineyards, all in close proximity to the winery.

Located in the Marne Valley, Moutardier is a Pinot Meunier specialist, resulting in wines with lovely soft fruit characters, making them friendly and approachable to all Champagne drinkers. Our MD and Wine Buyer, Jon Horton, is a huge fan of the Moutardier brothers William and Simon. Dynamic and with the enthusiasm of youth, having grown up on the estate they already have a wealth of experience. Keen environmentalists, they have introduced production methods to protect the environment (with HVE and VDC certifications).

THE WINES OF DOMAINE SAUVION: Eccentric – almost certainly . . . Brilliant – definitely. Pierre Jean is a true craftsman. Born right in the middle of the “garden” (as their vineyard holdings are known), wine fanatic Pierre-Jean spent his childhood literally surrounded by vines. This château, in the heart of the Nantes vineyards, has belonged to the Sauvion family since 1935 and, with its old vaulted cellars, is one of the most ancient properties in the Sèvre et Maine vineyard.

Painted Wolf Wines – A great South African story: Established by fanatical winemakers and conservationists Jeremy and Emma Borg and inspired by the successful social dynamics of an African wild dog pack, this ‘pack’ of passionate grape growers, artists and conservationists celebrates wine and African wildlife. Jeremy crafts wines from Paarl, Stellenbosch and the Coastal Region with a distinctive South African feel, concentrating around two benchmark varietals in Chenin and Pinotage. This is all combined with organic or near organic practices, low yielding vines and stunning personalised artwork on all of the range.
