Staycation Nation – how to perfect your summer 2020 style!

Since this summer we’re likely to be a ‘staycation nation’, we thought it would be fun to share with you some tips on how to plan your staycation wardrobe.

The British summer can be four seasons in one day so the trick is to choose items that can have several different uses, be styled to wear whether on a hot sunny day, chilly beach, walk in the country or out for supper in the evening.

One thing I swear buy are t-shirts and GREAT BASICS, as not only do they look great just worn with shorts on a beach, but you can dress them up with a great blazer or a more relaxed camo jacket.  If you need to stock up on good T-shirts we recommend the range at YUNION T, as not only are they ethically made in the UK, they’re non-see through (WINNER!), the quality of design, fabric and make is fantastic, and they have real wardrobe longevity.  Plus they are designed and cut to be SUPER FLATTERING.

Whilst we are talking LAYERING the Wandering Bee pocket poncho is a great versatile knit to have and looks super stylish over your shorts on a chilly beach with a panama hat, or with khaki rolled up chinos out for dinner.  Their embellished short Kimono tops are also brilliant chameleon basics – adding a sophisticated boho beach look over your swimwear or over a white tee and boyfriend jeans in the evening.

A trend that has remained as a summer wardrobe classic is INDIAN BLOCK PRINT, and the Hoboko Blue Leaf Maxi Skirt is a great wardrobe addition.  Whether worn over swimwear with a simple t-shirt or summer tank, or transformed in to a lunchtime look by adding a denim jacket and Castaner wedges – this skirt is practical and stylish.  Kikoy Baggies are an essential for any TEENAGER, and Hoboko has a great unisex selection in a multitude of different colour designs, perfect for summer lounging.

Another stunning Indian Block Print summer essential are the gorgeous Kaftans designed by Wrap Up In style  – 100% organic cotton hand block printed in the traditional way. Perfect over swimwear or over jeans for a stunning outfit, or just around the house and garden to keep cool.

Great holiday ACCESSORIES are also key, but remember these accessories are ‘not just for summer’, they should be bought with the view that they can be used across the seasons…

A summer ‘must have’ is a great pair FLIP FLOPS and our top choice is Freak Flops.  They offer a selection of vibrant designs printed on their unique non-slip cotton surface, each pair is hand-finished, vegan, eco-friendly, and the company offer a ‘Fair days wage for a fair day’s work’.  Also, they are super comfy and look great – you can’t better than that.

LUCY HOULE are makers of oilcloth totes, accessories and homewares. The tote bags are British made, hand-crafted, with classic and contemporary prints, a wipe-clean finish and are lined in oilcloth with inside pockets.  Designed for family life, they can be used as a handbag, shopper, gym bag or beach bag.  They really are a unique design and you will get some much use out of them whatever the season, my personal favourite is the Medium Zip Tote Bag Navy Cobblestone with Pink Handles.

If you are fan of bright and stylish accessories you can’t go wrong with adding these amazing The Holiday Shop London QUICK DRYING TOWELS – family must haves.  I have had some of these for the past few years and I swear by them.  They dry 3 x faster than a standard cotton towel, don’t collect nasty smells, and repel sand on the beach. Also great for the gym, as swim bags and camping etc. Bright fun colours.  Their Neoprene Totes are also an absolute ‘work horse’ bag, they can be flat packed so easy store, come with a detachable zip pouch inside, are lightweight, and can also be machine washed.  They are like a ‘Tardis’ inside and can carry a substantial weight for all that beach or camping clobber.
